Seventh-place finish in Rumble by the River prelim at Port Royal
Ross Robinson returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Friday afternoon with a short trip to Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) for the doubleheader event drawing 51 competitors. (Heath Lawson photos)
With 51-car field divided into two groups for qualifying, Ross stopped the clock second-fastest in his group before placing first in his heat. With $5,000 on the line in his preliminary feature, Robinson faded late in the 25-lapper to finish seventh.
On Saturday, Robinson missed a transfer spot by one car in his heat with a fourth-place outing, relegating him into the B-Main. Coming one position short of transferring in his B-Main, Ross used a provisional into the $50,000-to-win Rumble by the River A-Main. Rolling off on the 12th row, Robinson was credited with a 21st-place finish after retiring early on lap 31.
