Robinson ninth in Duel in the Desert finale at Las Vegas Dirt Track
Ross and Amanda Robinson made the trek to Las Vegas Dirt Track (Las Vegas, Nev.) on Thursday afternoon to compete in the thee-day event with the XR Super Series.
With 42 Late Models entered for Thursday’s $20,000-to-win prelim, Ross edged his way into the opening night feature with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat while Amanda placed third. Amanda pulled off on the 14th circuit while Ross headed pitside on lap 36.
For another round of prelims on Friday, Ross recorded a 15th-place finish in the 40-lap feature while Amanda fell short of a transfer spot with a fifth-place finish in her B-Main.
On Saturday, Ross got the ball rolling early as his laid down the fourth-fastest time in his group before placing second in his heat. Starting the $40,000-to-win Duel in the Desert finale in eighth, Robinson rebounded with a ninth-place finish in the 50-lap affair after suffering an early flat tire. Amanda laid down the sixth-fastest time in her group before finishing second in her heat, trailing Brandon Overton. Despite early contact that dropped her to the tail, Amanda rallied to finish 17th.
