Robinson lands top-10 finish in Rumble by the River prelim at Port Royal
Defending his home turf against the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Ross Robinson made the short trip to Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, Del.) on Thursday for the rescheduled Melvin Joseph Memorial.
After threatening rain put the program under a delay, Robinson raced into the $18,049-to-win A-Main with a third-place finish in his consolation race. Nearly cracking the top-10, Ross advanced eight spots in the 49-lapper to finish 11th.
On Friday at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) as the two-day Rumble by the River got underway, Ross put on another impressive charge in his preliminary feature after getting off to a slow start in his heat. Chasing a $5,000 payday in his prelim, Robinson passed 10 cars to register a seventh-place finish.
For the Rumble by the River finale on Saturday, Robinson missed a transfer spot in his heat race and B-Main, forcing him to use a provisional into the $50,000-to-win A-Main. Rolling off on the 12th row, Ross improved five spots to cap off the weekend with a 19th-place outing.
Ross sits 13th in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
