Top-10 finish in Super Bowl of Racing finale at Golden Isles Speedway
Ross Robinson’s third year on tour with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) came to life on Thursday with a visit to Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) for the General Tire Super Bowl of Racing.
Alongside a stout field of 50 Late Models, Ross raced into the opener with a second-place finish in his B-Main after missing a transfer spot by one car in his heat race. Gunning for the $10,000 top prize, Robinson advanced eight spots in the 40-lapper to record a 14th-place finish. He was awarded the Todd Steel Buildings Hard Charge of the Race honors for the showing.
Back at the Georgia oval on Saturday after Mother Nature washed out Friday’s prelim, Robinson laid down the fourth-fastest time in his 25-car group before placing second in his heat race. Starting on the fourth row for the $25,000-to-win Super Bowl of Racing finale, Ross posted a 10th-place finish in the 60-lap affair.
